WE TRULY MISS YOU
FRANCISCO DE SÁ CARNEIRO
Porto, 19th of July 1935 - Lisboa, 4th of December of 1980
He attended the Faculty of Law at the University of Lisbon and was active within the "Catholic Action" group.
He worked as a lawyer until 1969 and by that time embraced politics.
In 1969 elections were summoned by Marcelo Caetano and as expected the National Union wins. Salazar dies incapacitated in 1970.
Francisco de Sá Carneiro takes place as one of the four independent deputees that Marcelo Caetano allowed to take seat at "The National Assembly".
When the carnation revolution ocurred in the month of April of 1974 Sá Carneiro forms the Portuguese Popular Party (PPD - later PSD).
Nevertheless in this same year a small planned parenthesis in the then young portuguese democracy forces him to take a step backwards. Spinola, Vasco Gonçalves, Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho and the CIA did the moves (under the eye of Carlucci, Frank).
When he returns to politics the formation that he had created had changed the name to Social Democratic Party (PSD).
In 1979 "The Democratic Alliance" prevailed in the elections and he was the undisputed leader of the coalition of three parties (PSD, CDS and PPM). I still remember to participate, as a teenager and during the summer of 1979, in the propaganda work before the elections.
In 1980 Francisco de Sá Carneiro is finally Prime minister with Ramalho Eanes as President.
A clear political homicide takes his and Snu's life 25 years ago.
The Camarate shameful event kills three brave men, their beloved women and two pilots and turned Portugal to a pathway of corruption where he still lies.
Camarate spurred with blood the Carnation Revolution.
Men like Francisco de Sá Carneiro and Adelino Amaro da Costa will remain our example of charisma, leadership, courage and hope.
He will not be forgotten. His memory his our national hope.
They still lecture us how to excel in politics when politics means leading a country to a safer place.
